West Suffolk College - Poster designs promote safety
A cheque for £150 was presented to the winner of a poster competition at West Suffolk College.
Students were invited to choose one of a variety of Equality and Diversity related themes including, bullying, internet safety and discrimination, and design an A4 poster for use around College.
Second year Art & Design student Fiona Clarke won first prize, with a poster suggesting victims should not keep abuse a secret. Vice Principal Phil Thirkettle presented her with £150 cheque. The second prize, £75, went to Katherine Robinson for a poster on e-safety and the £25 third prize to Aislinn Toye for an anti-bullying poster.
Grace Sandford, Richard Blair, Luke Donnelly, Alex Seymour and Tom Daphlyn were awarded runner-up prizes of £10 each.
Penny Embrey, head of school of Art & Design, said: “Students found the project interesting as it gave them a chance to voice their opinions. Some had personal experience of some of the issues, which were very relevant to their everyday lives.”
Competition entries were put on display in the main reception area at the College, and also on StudentNet. Students voted to decide the winner.
