West Suffolk College - Cross country winner
A local runner won a Bronze medal at the British Colleges Sport National Championships at Loughborough University.
Alex Dunbar, who is a first year National Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science student at West Suffolk College, qualified for the championships after winning the East region cross country competition earlier in the year.
Alex competed against 70 other runners from across the country and ran an excellent race to claim the bronze medal in very hot conditions. He was representing the East region, and that team claimed the gold medal.
“Alex had been working very hard in training,” said Neil Gilmore, FE Sports Coordinator at the College. “He has had an excellent season, qualifying for two National Cross Country Championships. He has been rewarded by claiming two medals to finish a highly successful cross country season.”
Alex came 18th out of a field of 400 competitors in the Aviva ESAA English Schools' National Cross Country Championship at Heaton Park, Manchester in March.
